GUIDELINES FOR TRANSLATORS

Albor is always looking for new freelance translators to work with. If you are interested in working with us, please read our list of dos and don’ts for translators and complete the attached form so that we can include your full CV in our database.

  • Legal status: All translators must be registered as a self-employed worker or be legally authorised to issue invoices as a company. ALBOR S.L. reserves the right to ask translators to submit the Certificate for Contractors and Subcontractors (for translators resident in Spain).
  • Delivery deadline: Unless agreed in advance with ALBOR or for demonstrable reasons of force majeure, the delivery deadlines agreed with ALBOR must be respected at all times.
  • File names: The file name must never be changed; simply add _ and the ISO language code at the end of the name. For example, if the original is called "selección.doc", and is translated into English, the translation will be "selección_en".
  • Proof-reading of the text: No translations with spelling mistakes will be accepted: using the spell checker is a basic step which every translator must follow. Obviously, this does not exempt the translator from reading the translation through thoroughly to detect other possible errors before sending us the text.
  • Layout: Respect the layout of the original as far as possible. When the original text is in computerised format, work by overtyping the text; when it is on paper, try to keep a format similar to the original, including page headers and footers, insertion of formats (bold, italics, etc.), contents and other basic guidelines for word processing.
  • Translation memories: When a job is requested with a translation memory, the translator must send back the text uncleaned and the exported TM. For any doubts of a technical nature, the translator must contact us.
  • Invoicing: Each translator must send a single invoice at the end of the month, indicating the translations carried out (with order code for each item). Invoices must be sent between the 30th and the 5th of each month. The invoice must include the 20-figure bank account number.
  • Confidentiality: Before starting work with ALBOR the translator MUST send by mail the attached confidentiality document, completed and signed.
